Of course you have heard about the tragic floods that have wiped out villages and taken hundreds, possibly thousands of lives. The images that have come out of Nepal are horrific, difficult to watch. We have friends in Nepal who have begun relief work. They are terribly underfunded and we are assisting them financially. If you are moved to help, virtually every dollar you send will go directly to the relief effort.
I received a communication yesterday from a pastor there who told the story of meeting a young lady through a fellow pastor. She is 21 and has a 9 month old baby. Her husband was swept away in the floods. Their village was wiped out. She has nothing. Some people brought her to Kathmandu. When my friend went to help her she was living in a 10X10 room with six others, still wearing the same clothes from the day of the flood. No money and very little food. So, he helped her get food and new clothes and is setting up a place for her to live in Kathmandu. Nobody knows what the future may hold for her and her baby but she is being cared for at this point. This is just one of thousands of tragic stories.
