Over the past weeks we have raised and sent thousands of dollars to Nepal. We work with 3 different groups, each having friends, relatives, and colleagues in the affected areas. We received the following message a couple of days ago:

“HEARTFELT THANKSGIVING

THANK YOU, PASTOR DAVID GRISANTI, USA Thank you for your generous financial support, which provided food for flood-affected families in Nuwakot, Rasuwa, and Dhading, Nepal. Your kindness has brought hope, love, and practical help to families in need. “Thank you for standing with the people of Nepal during this difficult time.”

With heartfelt gratitude, HMU & GC MINISTRIES NEPAL”

Of course you have heard about the tragic floods that have wiped out villages and taken hundreds, possibly thousands of lives. The images that have come out of Nepal are horrific, difficult to watch. We have friends in Nepal who have begun relief work. They are terribly underfunded and we are assisting them financially. If you are moved to help, virtually every dollar you send will go directly to the relief effort.

I received a communication yesterday from a pastor there who told the story of meeting a young lady through a fellow pastor. She is 21 and has a 9 month old baby. Her husband was swept away in the floods. Their village was wiped out. She has nothing. Some people brought her to Kathmandu. When my friend went to help her she was living in a 10X10 room with six others, still wearing the same clothes from the day of the flood. No money and very little food. So, he helped her get food and new clothes and is setting up a place for her to live in Kathmandu. Nobody knows what the future may hold for her and her baby but she is being cared for at this point. This is just one of thousands of tragic stories.

We have already received donations but we need more to continue to help. Please consider sending a donation for Nepal.

God bless you.

I recently posted here announcing an upcoming fundraising event, scheduled for early October. The MTI board and I have decided that, to put together a well-thought-out event, we need more time. So we decided to postpone the event until Spring, sometime shortly after Easter next year, which is March 28. We will be deciding on a date soon, and then having our team work on all of the logistics of it. I had mentioned that Pastor David Guzik would be a part of the evening and he has graciously agreed to come up in the Spring. So, I will keep you posted on this endeavor periodically. Thanks for your prayers.
