Please Be Patient!!

The wifi here is weak and spotty, so I will blog when I have a good signal, like now. Yesterday at Calvary Chaoel Buwama went well. Now we are registering the conference couples. All is good!

The Third Day in Uganda

Well, we made it safely to Uganda. From Seattle to San Francisco, then from there, a 15-hour flight to Doha, Qatar. After a 15-hour layover, we took a flight to Entebbe, Uganda. We landed on Thursday at about 2 PM. We got to the Best Western Hotel in Entabbe and rested and then went our for a short walk to a mall, where we had dinner. Sleeping through the night is still a bit of a challenge due to the time difference. We are 10 hours ahead of the time at home. Yesterday, Friday, we had lunch with Pastor Zeddie of Calvary Chapel Kampala. We always enjoy our time with him. We brought gifts for him and his wife Hope and his 5 boys. I will teach at the Bible college at his church on Saturday, May 5th, and preach at 2 Sunday services on May the 7th.

So, in a couple of hours Pastor Charles from the village of Buwama will pick us up and we will spend the night there and I will preach on Sunday morning at his church, planted 2 years ago. We’re looking forward to being there. Following the church service we will drive with Pastor Charles and his wife Levenia to the city of Jinja, where the Pastors and Wives retreat will take place.

We have a great deal of good things ahead of us. Thanks for the prayers. We appreciate them!

Bye for now,

David

The Final Day of the Conference

(Click on the title to see the photos)

Today we wrapped up the conference and sent everyone on their way. I can tell you, it was a very blessed 3 days and it all went so well. Today I taught for about 2 hours, teaching the final session for 90 minutes and then a 30-minute recap before we ended it. What I felt more than ever was that my generation has really had an impact on the world for the Gospel but in many ways, it is time for my generation to step aside and make way for the younger leaders of the church going forward. I told them that my focus is now on preparing the next generation of church leaders whenever and wherever I am able. The feedback from many of the attendees was gratitude, and a kind of “Let’s do this again next year” feeling. What a privilege to invest in these young pastors and leaders. I love what I do!

So, over the next 2 days (Thursday and Friday) we have 4 meetings scheduled with other leaders, discussing plans for future ministry opportunities. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks to all of you who have read the blog and posted a response. It means a lot to know that you are interested and you are praying for us.

The photos below show me with a group of folks who attended, a photo of Isaac being presented with some gifts, and a view of the inside of the church.

Thanks again for the prayers. Looking forward to the next couple of days.
