Another Day in Africa

It is now Wednesday morning, the third day of the Pastor’s and Wives conference. It is still pretty dark outside and I am hearing some loud, unusual bird calls from the nearby forest. We are in such a beautiful spot, about 3-4,000 feet in elevation, so not too hot, very comfortable.

I have taught a few sessions already and will teach at the first session this morning. Yesterday Debbie sat on a panel of women while the women had a session to themselves, and I sat on a panel for the men’s meeting. We have met so many interesting people. I wouldn’t know where to begin in describing some of their stories, as there are many and they are quite interesting. So many dynamic, intelligent people who are leading churches all over East Africa.

I haven’t taken very many photos, but I will today so that you can see some of what we’re experiencing.

We’re in good health and enjoying life here. I thank you for the prayers. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.

Blessings,

David

Beautiful Place, Wonderful People

It is now Tuesday evening. Yesterday the conference began in the afternoon. There are somewhere between 40-50 couples in attendance. We are meeting and talking with so many pasrors and wives! They have come here from all over Uganda, as well as Nigeria, Burundi, and more.

I only have a few minutes, and wifi access is only available in the hotel lobby, so this is just a quick update. I hope to write more and include a photo or 2 in a few hours.

We are feeling good and enjoying this experience immensely! It truly is beautiful here, with the mild temperatures and the cool breezes off of Lake Victoria throughout the night.

Thanks for the prayers.

We’re in Uganda!

t is the morning of Monday, July 18 and we are at the resort on Lake Victoria outside of Entebbe, Uganda. We had a great trip here. On the flight from Dubai to Entebbe, we were on the same plane as the group from CC San Juan Capistrano in California. There were 17 of them. Most will be leaving today for missions work in other parts of Uganda. Upon landing, we waited until all 55 bags came through, including many crates of supplies for VBS and other endeavors. We loaded it all into a large van, then we all piled into 3 other vans for the ride to the hotel. We drove for a while on a paved road, then about 5 minkes down a dirt road until we came to this beautiful spot on the shores of Lake Victoria. We all met for dinner then off to bed. We slept surrounded by a mosquito net, but it was very comfortable and cool.

This morning we met in the cafeteria for coffee, breakfast, and a time of devotions. We are really enjoying the people we’re here with, so much fun and full of energy! We’ve also met a few of the pastors and wives, but most will arrive later this morning. So many stories and experiences we’ve already heard.

Thanks for all the prayers! We are having a good time and look forward to a wonderful week.
Please comment and let us know you’re reading the blog.

More tomorrow or tonight, we’ll see how the day goes.
