Sunday Morning

This morning I was picked up at the hotel and transported to the church service by Pastor Jose via motorbike! It was fun riding through the streets of Mumbai in the early morning. Anyway, there was a lot going on at his church on this day, including a baby dedication. A couple from Nigeria were visiting a friend and arranged to have their baby dedicated today. To my surprise, Jose asked me to officiate the dedication. So, I was glad to do so. The baby, just a few months old, was named Amy. So beautiful, and sleeping through the whole event! I’ve included a photo of the family, including the auntie. I love the colorful clothing, as it reminds me of our friends in Uganda.

So, I am now at the Mumbai airport, about to board the plane for Delhi. Having a great time! All went very well in Mumbai.

Second Day of the Seminar in Mumbai

I had a wonderful time of teaching today (well, yesterday, Saturday). I began at 10 AM and taught until 5 PM, with a lunch break and a couple of brief tea breaks. A couple of the guys from the first day were not in attendance but another one or two were there for the first time. I taught from the book of Titus, things pertaining to Christian leadership. There were a lot of good questions again, the guys seemed to be thankful for the seminars. I was pretty tired out last evening, after teaching for almost 6 hours, so I got a good night’s sleep.

It is now Sunday morning and I will attend the church service this morning, then head for the airport for the flight to Delhi. I’ve had a great time here and I am glad I added this 2-day seminar on to the larger trip.

Gotta go and have breakfast and get read to go. Thanks again for the prayers!

First Day in Mumbai

So, I have just a few minutes before I go to teach. It is Saturday morning and it will be my second day of teaching pastors here in Mumbai. Yesterday really went well. There were 12 pastors from Mumbai and areas outside of the city. I taught from 10 AM until about 5 PM from the Book of Titus. I loved the experience, as there was very good interaction and good questions.

One of the men is a man of 30 years old named Gyanesh. He came to Mumbai a few years ago from Orissa, India. He felt that God was telling him to go to Mumbai to share the Gospel. He arrived with little money, and, thus, had to sleep on the floor of the train station for 3 nights. Finally, he decided he would share the Gospel with some of the folks at the train station, and as he was talking, a man came up to him and said he was also a Christian and invited him to stay with him. Since that time he has developed a ministry in the slums of Mumbai, going there daily to help and share and do whatever he can. He has established a small church there and is dedicated to reaching the people that nobody wants to deal with. God bless him.

There are other stories I can tell you about the men in attendance, but don’t have the time.

Thanks for the prayers. More tomorrow!
