Teaching at the Conference

Yesterday (Tuesday) was the first full day of the conference. It is held outside of a city called Gurgaon, not far from Delhi. Pastors from all over the north of India are here. The auditorium yesterday was as full as I have ever seen it! I was glad to teach and to talk with some of the leaders. Today I will be participating in a graduation ceremony from the Harvest Bible College in the Punjab state. I will also be meeting with the principal leaders of HMU in order to strategize about establishing a Pastor’s Training Center here in India. The prospect of such a school is very exciting!

I have included a photo of me with Saji, the director of HMU, and a pic of me teaching, with the translator next to me.

Thanks again for the prayers! Keep them up!

Back in India

Well, I flew back to Delhi today and will be participating in the Pastor’s Conference for the next 4 days. Yesterday I visited the orphanage we have been supporting in Kathmandu. With me was Pastor Ed Hickey from Toronto, Canada. He has a desire to establish an orphanage in Nepal or work with an existing one. Anyway, it was encouraging to see the new home that has been built since the earthquake destroyed their old home. Not only that, but a church in the U.K. is helping them to build another building as well. Dev and Maya eventually want to be able to have 30 children, and this new building will enable them to do that. They have great vision for the orphanage. They meticulously adhere to all government regulations, and they keep accurate records of all donations. I have included a photo of the children, wearing their new school uniforms. There are currently 12 children living there, plus Dev’s 2 kids. It was great to have an extensive talk with Dev and his brother and a fiend of his who is a pastor from another city. They all grew up in an orphanage, with 375 kids!! So, they all know what it means to live in one, and what it means to live an a far-less-than-perfect one. Our time with them was really helpful. I have also included a photo of Pastor Ed, Dev, and myself.

Now I’m looking forward to the week at the conference. Thanks for the prayers!

Blessings,

David

A Visit to an Orphanage

Today we visited an orphanage, near to the location of the Pastor’s Conference. It is run buy the brother-in-law and sister of Pastor Baburam, one of the HMU leaders in Nepal. I just cannot describe how wonderful and precious these children are! I have included a photo of the group, with me and my friend Ed in the back, and another pic of 2 of the girls.

Then tonight we had dinner with the National Director of Campus Crusade for Christ, Nepal. It was a time of stimulating conversation, as we are gathering information about what it takes to establish or run and organization (orphanage??) in Nepal.

Thanks for the prayers!
