In Thailand

Finally am here at the conference site, The Horizon Village Resort in Chiangmai. It is quite the place! You should look it up. The conference begins this afternoon. Already, I have have has some meaningful conversations with new acquaintances and old friends.

Meanwhile, I am fighting a cold, so prayers are appreciated. More later.

Thanks

Getting Ready to Go Again . . .

Well, in a little more than a week I will be heading out again, this time to Thailand, Nepal, and India. As the day gets nearer, I find myself preoccupied with making sure everything is ready for the trip. And, again, I am thankful for the privilege I have of participating with what is going on in churches in other parts of the world. I will be teaching at a missions conference, (and even better that that, I will be spending time with some wonderful people out on the mission field), I will visit the orphanage in Kathmandu, meeting with the people at the Calvary Chapel Bible College there, and meeting with Pastor Baburam Tamang, who is coordinating relief efforts for a dozen churches, and then off to India. I will be posting some photos while on the trip, and writing some blogs.

I am thankful for the prayers and support of so many of you. Keep them going!

Blessings to you all,

David

A Busy Couple of Weeks

Yes, the past 2 weeks have been full of activities, all good. We flew to SoCal on July 4 and had a great time the next day at Living Way Christian Fellowship in Fontana, where I taught at the 3 AM services. What a wonderful group of folks! Afterward we had lunch with family and a friend who had been a student when I was teaching at the CC Bible School in 1983! Then drove to Orange County, having dinner with family and checking into the hotel for the next 5 days. From Monday through Thursday we attended the CC Senior Pastors Conference at CC Costa Mesa. What was so good was the many connections made with friends, old and new. There are way too many “divine appointments” to mention. Here is one: I am going to be intentionally very general here. About 11 years ago, I met a pastor at the Pastors Conference. We talked for a long while. I knew he was having a tough time. That was in June. When Christmas rolled around, I felt compelled to send some money to him, for his 5 children to be able to have a nice Christmas. He sent a letter of thanks at the time. Fast forward to last week. There were a couple of thousand people at the conference. During one of the “greeting times”, I shook hands with the man sitting directly in front of me. As I sat down, I realized it was the same man from so many years ago. He then quickly turned around as he realized who I was. It was a very emotional meeting. He said that he had prayed that we might cross paths, and there he was, “randomly” sitting in front of me!! It gives me chills thinking about it. There is more to the story that blew me away, as to the timing of when I sent the gift. No doubt God orchestrated that meeting!

Anyway, we flew back on Friday, then on Saturday I drove to Dallas, Oregon and taught at Dallas Church on Sunday morning, driving back that afternoon. I had a great time there as well, having lunch with Pastor Ben and his family, and some long-time friends.

So, now I am back home and peppering for some ministry opportunities at CC Silverdale, as well as planning the trip in September to Asia, India, and Nepal.

Thanks for the prayers. Please keep them going upward!

David
