Kathmandu Orphanage Alert

I got word last week that the kids in the Kathmandu orphanage completed their school year, passed their exams, and are on the the new school year. I also know that the orphanage needs about $1,500 U.S. dollars for their admission, supplies, books, shoes, and 2 sets of uniforms per student.

If you can help, please let me know. You can donate through PayPal, or to the MTI address.
Thanks!

Another Good Class and More

The day started out nicely: no hot water for the shower! I was wide awake after that! Fortunately, today I was shown the “trick” to making sure I have hot water each day. Otherwise, I am in a very cool apartment on campus. It is comfortable, clean, and it is extremely quiet at night. I am blessed.
In class today, we were discussing what it is like to take risks of faith. One of the students, a young woman from Peru probably mid-twenties, talked about how she had cancer of the uterus a few years ago. She prayed many times for healing but nothing. So, her doctor scheduled the surgery in order to remove her uterus. 2 days before, her church asked if they could pray for her. She didn’t want to, as she had already asked, but agreed to let them surround her. She didn’t want to be disappointed again, but decided to let them pray. She went in the next day and was told there was no cancer, everything was perfectly normal. When she went to the surgeon to tell him, he didn’t believe it. He took our the x-rays that showed the cancer, then compared it to the new pics that showed it to be gone. He was speechless.
There were several other stories that were very cool.
Then, at lunch, I sat with a young woman who has the desire to be a leader and teacher of women. She will be interning at a church in the near future. She has a Phd in advertising but felt that God was leading her in another direction. She has a wonderful disposition and lots of joy and laughter, totally at peace with her decision.
Anyway, so far so good here. Looking forward to the next week and a half. Thanks for the prayers. Please post a word or two!

First Day of Class

Had a great time today. In the course of looking at the life of Nehemiah, we talked about what moved him to action, what was his “burden”. I then asked the students to share what their hopes are for the future. After some coaxing, five of them finally spoke up. Their answered were: to work with street kids: to run an orphanage (the young lady who said this grew up in an orphanage): to prepare missionaries for missions work in difficult areas of the world: to be a pastor: to teach the Bible. What was so good about it all is that each is deeply serious about doing these things in the future. Hearing them gave me hope for the future of the church and hope for the wares of the world where they will be.

I’m now getting ready for tomorrow’s class. It is beautiful and mild here.
By the way, if there are typos in my posts, realize that until we fix the website, I cannot see the text I am writing!
