Looking Ahead

It is mid-June, and I have so much going on in the next few months.

Next month, Debbie and I will be traveling to Entebbe, Uganda in order to participate in a retreat for pastors and wives from East African nations. It will be our first visit to Africa (well, in 1985 I did visit Egypt, technically on the continent but so much different from where we’ll be) and we are looking forward to it.

Shortly after returning, I will be going to Havana, Cuba. It is not a ministry trip per se, but I hope to make contact with a couple of pastors in the area of Havana.

If you’ve seen the link here, you also know that we have a tour of the Holy Land planned for October 24-November 3. I hope you can join us. Take a look at the video on this site!

In the meantime, there are so many activities with family and friends and at CC Silverdale. Life is full and God is good!

Blessings to you all,

David

Had a Great Weekend

Had a really great weekend. On Saturday I went into Cajamarca and hiked up a very steep street from the town plaza. Then, climbed the 120 steps up to a church overlooking the city. Then hiked up to a vista above the church which afforded a magnificent panorama of the city. It was a climb, for sure, but worth the effort. It was also a beautiful, sunny day. I went back down to the plaza and took a cab to a mall, where I had lunch, then a cab to where I am staying.

Then last night, we had a wonderful Passover Seder dinner at the school. What a great experience! All of the students and staff were there. We all had a wonderful evening.

This morning we had a church service at the school. This evening, I taught at the weekly worship service. Afterward, a group of 6 of us went out for a delicious chicken dinner (see my FB post).

I am really enjoying the time here. I am looking forward to the new week.

Thanks for praying!

One Week Down, One to Go

Well, I have completed the first week of teaching here in Peru. Everything has gone very well and it has been a wonderful week. I’ve most enjoyed the interaction with the students both inside and outside the classroom. There is so much potential here in these young men and women.
Up until yesterday I had been staying in a nice apartment on campus. But after dinner, the students were mainly studying. Also, no wifi in the apartment, so I either would go to the apartment and read until bedtime or go to the main building where I could have Internet conn cation. Anyway, my friends John and Pilar Bonner invited me to stay I. Their home, about 15 minutes from campus. It is so comfortable and spacious here, with a fast internet connection as well. I’m especially enjoying conversation with them.
More to say, but I’ll close for now.
Thanks for the prayers!

David
